Leadership is in every moment and every day
A while ago, I was sitting a bit nervously with Patricia Hoogland MSc at my kitchen table for an episode of Charlee's podcast. What would I say? How would it go? There was no need to worry, as it turned out to be a wonderful conversation about leadership, purple hair, stretched legs, and above all, connection and strength. And how you can do that every day. So, that's what it was all about.
Here's what Patricia said about it:
‘Together and with joy, you achieve more than alone.’ This might sound like a common saying, but believe me, for Edith, it's much more than that. For 20 years, she has lived by this motto with three core words: togetherness, joy, and achievement. She lives and practices this every day. She has a wealth of energy that she combines with a delightful cleverness: ‘The most important thing in collaboration is yourself. And that's good news and bad news.’
What a person! She makes an impact with curiosity as her primary driver. With this curiosity, she connects with everything and everyone around her. At the same time, she is sharp and driven, and doesn't back down for anyone. In the best sense of the word, of course. Our conversation had a wonderful openness and vulnerability. This immediately gave the podcast incredible depth and personality.
For an hour, Edith shares what leadership means to her in practice, because, as Edith explains, 'leadership is in every day and every moment.' The people she works with are captivated by her. How does she do it? She had to think about that herself when she was first asked. This is simply 'her way.' Listen to her approach and hear how she leads by example: vulnerable, powerful, and completely authentic.
I wish every employee and every organization had an Edith.
