Maja Memic started working with PCM within her team at HEINEKEN. Read about her experience below.
“The first time I heard about the Process Communication Model® was through my work," says Maja. "Together with several other colleagues, I attended a PCM training. As a former communication student, I've always been very interested in these kinds of models. What stuck with me most from the first part of the training was the importance of self-awareness. I started thinking about questions like 'Why do I behave in a certain way?', 'Why do I react to certain things like that?', 'How do I communicate with others?', and 'How do what I say and do come across to the people around me?' It also made me think about the impact my communication style has on my personal and professional relationships.”
“For me, PCM was a real hit. At the time of the training, I didn't yet realize the impact the model – and my trainer, for that matter – would later have on my work. For example, there was a period when a colleague and I clashed in communication style. That led to inefficient work; we weren't making progress. Since we had both been trained in PCM at that point, we decided to take a step back and examine the problem. With our combined PCM knowledge, we gained clear insight into who we were and why we reacted to each other the way we did. It also made it clear to us how we could improve our communication. I believe that the most important thing PCM taught us is the understanding that we are all different people, and that fundamentally, we all have a different way of communicating. Thanks to PCM, we regained trust and calm in our interactions with each other.”
